Evidently, it's Hinton's use of language which captures how physical and social lasting consequences of conflict are thoroughly explored throughout the entire novel. Furthermore, Ponyboy employs “Skin fighting isn't rough, it blows off steam better than anything’’.Through the use of hyperbole that is depicted throughout the novel demonstrates, he Physical lasting consequences of the conflict between Greasers and Socs, during the time that Two-bit is clarifying to Marcia that not all fighting is violence, this shows the physical lasting consequences of conflict as “fighting is not violence” the use of hyperbole emphasizes the reader and creates meaning so that we can develop a sense of urgency. Hinton’s novel, The Outsiders, two characters, Dallas Winston and Johnny Cade are very similar and also different at the same time. Hinton's use of metaphor adds an idea and makes a comparison by saying something is something when it's not for example in this sense the author comments ”A rumble, when it’s called, is usually born of a grudge fight”, metaphor is portrayed as Hinton is comparing something to another. Hinton outlines that ”A rumble, when it’s called, is usually born of a grudge fight, and the opponents just happen to bring their friends along.” By using metaphor, Hinton can depict the various physical and social abuse that is shown between Greasers and Socs as Ponyboy is giving an outline of the greasers and the Socs directed towards the reader, she can explore the needless pain and overwhelmed physical and social circumstances of the Socs and Greasers. The Socs are a middle-class group of rich teenagers who are rivals to the Greasers who define their social status as being proud to belong to a gang that supports each other through loyalty and respect. His full name was discovered by Ponyboy when looking through Sodapop's old yearbook, and because by the end of the novel, Ponyboy realizes the Socs are individuals with hardships of their own, he has no interest in punishing the Socs for his own adversities and goes as far as honoring Bob’s life in the theme he writes for English class.Conflict first appears in the novel between two rival gangs from opposite sides of town as they foolishly involve themselves in unnecessary violence. His death greatly affected Cherry Valance and Randy, making Cherry not want to visit Johnny in the hospital, and Randy calmed down and realized the futility of the fighting and conflict between the greasers and Socs. He bled to death almost immediately after, his blood spattering onto the surrounding ground and the blade of Johnny's switchblade. Johnny became scared and didn't know what to do he drew his switchblade and stabbed Bob, slicing his throat, causing blood to spill from his mouth and neck. He was trying to drown Ponyboy with some of the other Socs in front of Johnny. The two were definitely going to bump into each other at school, and Cherry informs Pony that he should not. Randy told Ponyboy that after Bob died, his mother had a nervous breakdown. Ponyboy and Cherry’s relationship is complicated because Cherry is Bob’s girlfriend. He was killed by Johnny when he was trying to drown Ponyboy Curtis. He got in trouble a lot because his parents never said no to him and blamed themselves. But, according to his best friend Randy, deep down, Bob was a good guy, and wanted someone to set limits for him and give him some firm ground to stand on, which was exactly the same thing all the Socs wanted as well. Soda, never very good in school, has dropped. Darry has taken over the responsibility of guardianship, forfeiting college and working to enable the three of them to stay together. Darry and Sodapop Curtis are Ponyboys older brothers who, along with being greasers, are adjusting to life on their own. According to Ponyboy, Johnny had been jumped by four Socs and right after the attack, he had a Scar from the rings worn by one of the socs and it was Bob himself because he is the only Soc that has rings on.īob drank often, and seemed to enjoy it.
